Internet Banking Security

Nevada State Bank understands the importance of keeping personal information private and secure. Our mission is to provide the four main security features of any secure digital environment.

  1. Privacy - Protects the authorized distribution and access of information. Please review our Privacy Policy statement for more information.
  2. Authentication - Establishes individual identities as approved members of the system. Nevada State Bank uses a unique Internet User Name to serve as your identification when using our account information services. Our SecurEntry feature provides an additional layer of security.
  3. Non-repudiation - Validates the participation of all parties involved in a transaction and ensures the intended exchange of data. The transmission of data is protected using industry recognized encryption standards.
  4. Integrity - Protects the soundness of the message content during the transaction. For instance - we cannot view your personal user names or passwords for any of your accounts - this information is kept encrypted at all times.

Login Security
Nevada State Bank uses a unique Internet User Name which will serve as your identifier when using Internet Banking. In addition to your Internet User Name, we require the use of a Secret Password that you can change at your convenience. Those using our Business Internet Banking service also have a unique Company ID.

SecurEntry provides added security (to access or in accessing) your banking accounts online. Your SecurEntry is an image (picture), phrase, and challenge questions and answers that are shared secretly between you and Nevada State Bank. When you see your SecurEntry image and phrase, you can be confident that you're at the Nevada State Bank Web site, not an imposter site.

Additionally, SecurEntry remembers which computer(s) you normally use, giving you even greater protection against unauthorized individuals logging into your accounts—even if they somehow obtain or guess your username and password.

Together, these unique pieces of information provide you online protection and enable you to view your account information quickly, easily and safely.

Like most Web sites, Nevada State Bank’s is not entirely comprised of pages secured by Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. (Secure pages usually begin with "https" in the site address and cause most browsers to show a locked icon.) However, be assured that the form post used to log in to Internet Banking is protected by SSL technology.

The User Name and Password (and Company ID for businesses) are entered through a basic HTML object called a form. The form sends the entered information to a Web server for processing through a process called "submit". Part of executing a "submit" involves telling the form where the data is to be transmitted. In the case of the Internet Banking login information customers enter on Nevada State Bank’s Web site, the form is instructed to submit the data to a Web server that is protected by SSL. This is what makes the form post secure.

Prior to any exchange of information with a Web server protected by SSL, the Web browser is required to negotiate an SSL session through a process called an SSL handshake. Once the SSL session is negotiated between the Web browser and the Web server, the data being sent to the Web server is encrypted by the Web browser in such a way that only the client and the server involved in the SSL session can read it. Thus, the login information entered from the Nevada State Bank web site is secure as it is transmitted via the Internet.

More detailed information about SSL technology can be found at:
