Governor Joe Lombardo Explores Leadership and Nevada’s Economic Future on NSB’s ‘Through the Door’ Podcast
LAS VEGAS – Nevada State Bank (NSB) has released the latest episode of its podcast series, “Through the Door: The Insider’s Perspective on Running a Business.” In “Episode Eighteen: Leading by Example with Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo,” host Megan Comfort welcomes Governor Joe Lombardo for a thoughtful conversation about serving as the chief executive of the State of Nevada, a lifelong commitment to public service, and the long-term outlook for the state’s economy. Governor Lombardo shares insights from his leadership journey, including how he applies systems thinking, team building, and accountability to lead complex public institutions, along with his vision for a resilient and business-friendly Nevada economy.
Governor Joe Lombardo, the 31st Governor of Nevada, was born in Japan into a military family and later settled in Las Vegas when his father was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. He graduated from Rancho High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas before serving in the United States Army and the Nevada National Guard. Following his military service, he joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, rose through nearly every level of the organization, and completed a Master of Science in Crisis Management from UNLV in 2006. After twenty-six years on the force, he was elected Sheriff of Clark County in 2014 and re-elected in 2018, overseeing a 1.3 billion dollar budget and a workforce of 6,000 employees. Elected Governor in 2022 and sworn in the following January, he now leads statewide efforts to strengthen public safety, improve education, diversify the economy, and support Nevada families.
