Dr. Ati Hakimi Challenges the Traditional Healthcare Model on NSB’s ‘Through the
Door’ Podcast
LAS VEGAS – Nevada State Bank (NSB) has released the latest episode of its podcast series, “Through the Door: The Insider’s Perspective on Running a Business.” In “Episode 22: Healthcare vs. Sick Care,” host Megan Comfort welcomes Dr. Ati Hakimi, founder of Vegas Direct Primary Care, for a conversation about healthcare innovation, entrepreneurship and improving access to quality medical care in Nevada. Their conversation explores Hakimi’s journey from practicing within large healthcare systems to launching a direct primary care model that offers patients affordable, transparent and personalized healthcare through a flat monthly membership. Hakimi also discusses Nevada’s physician shortage, the challenges facing today’s healthcare system and her efforts to advocate for more physician-led solutions across the state.
Dr. Ati Hakimi is a board-certified family physician with more than 20 years of experience. A graduate of Northwestern University’s Family Medicine Residency Program, she completed additional training in Geriatric Medicine at Rush University Medical Center. After relocating to Las Vegas in 2016, Hakimi became a member of Leadership Las Vegas Class of 2018, where she was inspired to address Nevada’s healthcare challenges. Motivated by the state’s physician shortage and healthcare rankings, she founded Vegas Direct Primary Care, a membership-based practice designed to provide affordable, accessible and relationship-focused care. Hakimi serves on the board of Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada and has previously served on the boards of Immunize Nevada and Angels of Las Vegas. She also volunteers with Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada and the UNLV Nevada Interprofessional Health Aging Network (NIHAN) and has been recognized as a Top 20 Doctor of the Year by Deluxe Version Magazine and a Women Who WOW honoree by Real Nevada Magazine.
