Our Commitment to Nevada’s Small Business Community
Small businesses are the foundation of Nevada’s economy. More than 353,621 small businesses operate in our state, representing 99.3 percent of all Nevada businesses and employing 45 percent of our workforce. These businesses drive growth in every county and strengthen the communities we serve. At Nevada State Bank, supporting small businesses is central to who we are and guides our work every day.
Each year, our NSB Small Business Survey provides insights into how business owners are approaching the future. This year’s results underscore the importance of strong financial relationships. According to the survey, 97.3 percent of respondents said their banking relationship is important to their success. Trust, access to credit, and the strength of personal relationships were the leading factors in choosing a banking relationship. This reinforces a belief we have held for many years. Businesses benefit from a reliable banking relationship when making decisions that affect their long‑term goals, and we take that responsibility seriously.
We continue to see steady demand for capital across the state. In fiscal year 2025, Nevada State Bank issued 107 SBA 7(a) loans totaling 26.4 million dollars. This represents a 24 percent increase from the prior year and again places Nevada State Bank as the top statewide SBA 7(a) lender. Overall, Nevada SBA activity also increased, with many businesses using these programs to manage cash flow, expand operations, and prepare for future growth.
Nevada business owners remain optimistic about the year ahead. Nearly seven in ten expect higher revenue or sales. About two thirds expect profitability to rise, and more than half plan to expand their workforce. Confidence in Nevada continues to be strong. More than 90 percent of respondents would recommend our state as a place to do business, and two thirds rate the business climate as excellent or good.
Our role is to support that momentum. The NSB Small Business Survey, now in its thirteenth year, continues to offer insight into trends shaping the statewide business environment. Our business podcast, Through the Door, in its second year, gives Nevada business leaders opportunities to share experiences and learn from one another. We also provide monthly Economic Briefings, High Net Worth Reports, and a wide range of resources at nsbank.com/resources to help business owners evaluate opportunities and navigate challenges.
Nevada’s business community continues to demonstrate growth, resilience, and ambition. We see it in the businesses that expand, hire, innovate, and contribute to the strength of our economy.
To every business owner across the state, thank you. Your work fuels Nevada’s progress and strengthens its future. Nevada State Bank remains committed to supporting your goals with resources, experience, and a banking relationship you can rely on.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you, and thank you for the work you do to keep Nevada strong.
Best regards,
Terry Shirey, President & CEO
