“We all want to be part of a vibrant community, and our local sports teams play an important role in strengthening Nevada communities, in addition to supporting developing athletes and boosting our economy,” said Micah Phillips, EVP/Marketing Director of Nevada State Bank. “By stepping up to support our university sports teams and also the new NBA G League Ignite team, NSB is helping to provide sports fun and excitement at prices the average family can afford.”
NSB has supported UNLV for many years, both academically through the Lee Business School and as a member of the UNLV Athletic Department’s Loyalty Circle, which provides scholarship support for the university’s student-athletes. According to UNLV’s website, Loyalty Circle members “invest in the development of student-athletes as leaders in all facets of their lives…leaders who will graduate with a UNLV degree, thrive in the workplace and serve our great city and state with honor and distinction.”
An equally loyal supporter of the UNR Wolf Pack, NSB celebrates home game days in its branches across Northern Nevada. The bank stepped up its corporate partnership with the Wolf Pack to a new level by becoming the Presenting Sponsor for Wolf Pack Men’s Basketball, providing funds for scholarships as well as operating expenses for the team.
This year, connecting with professional sports, Nevada State Bank became a Founding Partner of NBA G League Ignite. The NBA G League is the NBA’s official minor league, preparing players, coaches, officials, trainers, and front-office staff for the NBA. Featuring 30 teams, the league offers elite professional basketball at an affordable price in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.
Based at The Dollar Loan Center Arena in Henderson, G League Ignite helps develop top young prospects in preparation for the NBA Draft. The roster includes elite players who are eligible for the NBA Draft and players in the early stages of their professional basketball careers, as well as NBA and G League veterans who serve as mentors to the team’s young talent. In addition to on-court development, the team focuses on life skills training that includes financial literacy, community service involvement, and scholarship opportunities.
“One of the core values that drive Nevada State Bank is Community,” noted Phillips. “Supporting our student athletes and local sports teams helps strengthen community ties. I encourage everyone to get together with friends and family to enjoy these first-class sporting events and celebrate the hard work of our local athletes.”
