LAS VEGAS, NV - (May 8, 2009) - Nevada State Bank received an Economic Independence Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) at its annual Small Business Awards Luncheon on May 7. The theme of this year's luncheon, which was held at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, was "Succeeding in Tough Economic Times." The event was designed to celebrate Nevada's small business community and its lenders, who have worked hard to survive the economic challenges over the past 18 months.
Nevada State Bank received the award for being the community bank with the highest number of SBA loans (31) and also the highest dollar volume of loans ($8.6 million) for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2008.
Dennis Wengert, Deputy District Director of the SBA, congratulated Nevada State Bank on its achievement. "Thank you on behalf of the U.S. Small Business Administration and Nevada's small business community for helping small businesses start, grow and succeed," he said. Accepting the award for the bank were Guy Chaffee and Bob Hart, Nevada State Bank vice presidents who head up the bank's SBA lending department.
