Your Bank Should Believe in You
Katie Grimes is Nevada's Own Olympian and World Champion Swimmer
Nevada State Bank is a Proud Financial Partner
At Nevada State Bank, we believe in supporting our clients’ dreams. That’s why we’re proud to be the official financial partner of Olympian Katie Grimes, who made history in Paris as the first American woman to compete in both pool and open water events at the same Olympics. From battling the choppy waters of the River Seine to outracing competitors in the pool and bringing a silver medal home to the Silver State, Katie reminds us that greatness is Nevada born—and your bank should believe in you. Because that’s how banking should be.

About Katie
The youngest of seven children, Katie Grimes grew up around swimming pools in Las Vegas, where her older brothers excelled at the sport. When she was old enough, she joined the Sandpipers competitive swim team. Watching her brother Carter compete at the 2016 U.S. Team Trials inspired her to chase her own Olympic dream. At her first Trials, Katie placed in the 800-meter freestyle, earning a spot as the youngest member of the U.S. team that summer.
Since 2021, Katie has won three medals in pool events at the World Aquatics Championships. She is also a world-class open-water swimmer and one of the few athletes to medal in both pool and open-water events. At the 2023 Golden Goggles Awards, Katie earned Female Race of the Year for her performance in the 10-kilometer open-water event at the Fukuoka World Championships, where she claimed bronze and qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team.
2024 was a banner year. Katie made history as the first U.S. woman to compete in both pool and open-water events at an Olympics. In Paris, she captured silver in the 400 Individual Medley and finished 15th in the women’s 10K open-water swim. At the 2024 Golden Goggles Awards, she was named Fran Crippen Open Water Swimmer of the Year. The following month, Katie earned three medals at the SC World Championships, helped set a world record in the 4x200 freestyle relay, and broke the American record in the women’s 400 IM.
Katie continues her swimming career as a member of the University of Virginia’s Swimming and Diving team and Team USA’s National Team.

A Thank You Message From Katie Grimes
Katie's Financial Fitness
Katie Grimes has been managing her own banking since age 15 and began investing in December 2022. Even at a young age, she understands the importance of taking ownership of her finances and saving for the future. She values the personal service she receives at her Nevada State Bank branch, where bankers celebrate her accomplishments and cheer her on. Katie credits her financial savvy to her parents, longtime NSB clients for more than 20 years. Her mother, Shari Grimes, shared: “All my children bank with NSB. They opened their first accounts when they started college and have stayed with the bank.” While technology offers convenience, the Grimes family believes in the value of building a relationship with a banker—someone who takes the time to answer questions and provide guidance when challenges arise.
